Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage technique that stimulates lymph fluid and encourages movement through rhythmic, repetitive motions. It can benefit many people, and is especially recommended for guests who are post-operative, have had lymph nodes removed, or who experience chronic edema or inflammation. This treatment is not recommended for guests currently undergoing active chemotherapy or radiation.
What to expect
Pressure: Gentle, lighter pressure than a typical massage. Lymph vessels and nodes lie close to the skin and respond best to light, rhythmic strokes.
Customization: Treatments are tailored to each guest’s needs. In a full-body session, the therapist typically begins by clearing lymph nodes in the neck, then moves to the axillary (armpit) region, and then the inguinal (groin) region.
Sensation and results: Most guests feel relaxed and may notice reduced swelling or a feeling of lightness in treated areas. Multiple sessions are often recommended for chronic conditions or post-operative recovery.
Aftercare tips-
Drink water to support lymphatic function and hydration.
Move gently after the session (light walking or range-of-motion exercises) to help maintain lymph flow.
Follow any specific at-home care or compression garment guidance provided by your therapist or physician.
If you’re unsure whether manual lymphatic drainage is right for you, please consult with your healthcare provider or speak with one of our therapists for a personalized recommendation.
